A FEW MINUTES TO GET STARTED
Your first listen
This private trial installs directly in Chrome. Keep your trial code handy.
Download and unzip
Extract MEW.zip to a folder you’ll keep on your computer. The extracted extension folder contains manifest.json.
Add it to Chrome
Enter
chrome://extensionsin Chrome’s address bar. Turn on Developer mode, choose Load unpacked, and select the folder containing manifest.json.Connect your trial
Open a video in a browser tab, then click MEW in Chrome’s Extensions menu. Enter the personal trial code provided with your invitation. You don’t need an AI provider account or API key.
Choose your voice and listen
Select your voice and listening preferences. Start MEW from the video tab. Use Ask when something needs explaining; resume when you’re ready.
What to try
Start with a short, clearly spoken video. Compare voice-only listening with adapted wording, ask about a detail, and resume. Use the original captions or replay the source to check anything that sounds wrong.
Before you start
MEW sends captured audio and the text needed for explanations to its AI providers. Use public or non-sensitive material for this trial. Transcription and explanations can make mistakes. Some protected media and browser pages don’t allow capture.
Connection or installation trouble?
Select the extracted folder containing manifest.json, rather than the ZIP itself. If your organization disables Developer mode, use a computer where you’re allowed to install extensions. For an expired code or an unavailable trial, contact the person who invited you. Keep your code private.
